He got a tooth...and I cried

9:09 PM

This is the story of how our little man got his first tooth, and I was the one that cried. It's expected around these parts that with a 7 month old child teeth are going to start sprouting. However, I feel like our poor child has been teething for the last two months (if not more). There have been endless amounts of drool, diarrhea, pulling at ears, baby boy cheeks covered in a rash, and quite a few tears. Then today when our boy went for one of his favorite chew toys, my chin, it actually stinkin' hurt! Now, I'm totally guilty of saying, "ouch" when it's totally not necessary, but this time it was totally necessary. Low and behold I was able to catch a glimpse of a what looked like the top of a snow covered mountain bursting through little man's gums. I immediately stuck my finger, yet another favorite chew toy, in to investigate and indeed we had a tooth folks! After a moment of laughing with him sitting there on the floor, 'cause he just thinks it's hilarious when we talk, I looked at my baby boy and just started to cry. I cried happy tears and sad tears. Happy, because this is so awesome! Our little guy has a tooth, he's growing just like he should, and is so healthy! Sad, because it's going just so darn quick. I feel like in just a blink of an eye 7 months have gone by. I still feel like he's that little baby I saw for the first time in the operating room right after my hubs looked at me, stepped aside, and said, "He's a Joshua babe!" We couldn't be more blessed to have this little guy as our son, and boy do we love him! Here's looking forward to many more milestones...followed by me crying!

You're alright...You're Fine

6:11 PM

Some days, this is what our day looks like. A baby boy that is just not a happy camper and a momma that is doing her best to make baby boy a happy camper and keep herself sane. My mother-in-law pointed out that we always seem to stay so calm when our little monster (a term of endearment I assure you) is crying, throwing a fit, or having a total meltdown. I don't feel like I always am calm or have it together when he does, so I'll take the compliment. She also pointed out that whenever this situation is happening we often say, "You're alright...you're fine" to Josh like it's second nature and that maybe us saying it keeps us calm too, like we're reassuring ourselves as well. I never realized that we did it until she pointed it out, but it's so true. I guess we have our own little baby mantra! A total plus is it usually seems to work! Maybe it's because we're just repeating something to Josh that calms him, and maybe since we're repeating something it calms us, but whatever it is we get through the fit, crying, or meltdown without a momma or daddy meltdown too. In our book that is a success! So, here's to our mantra!

Almost Wordless Wednesday: Happy Halloween

4:23 PM

Happy Halloween!

Our Trick or Treat night was on Friday and my Handsome Devil and I passed out 12 bags of candy in one hour. I wasn't warned that our block is one of the most popular to hit. Literally moms in mini vans pulling up and 6 kids getting out kind of action.

We're linking up with everyone over at The Paper Mama!

Have a great day everyone!

The first week of October we made the trek back to Ohio/Indiana to visit my far away family and celebrate my Great Grandma, Mimi Daisy, turning 100! Might I say this lady looks fantastic for being 100! I told her I can finally call her old at this point, and she found that quite amusing.

It's not very often that you get pictures of your son with his Great Great Grandmother...

But, also getting a picture with his Great Great Grandfather!

Josh had a blast and was showing off his grin to everyone. I think this was outfit two of the day...we went through four I think...oh, the joys of travel with an infant!

It was a day of lots of picture taking, sharing memories, and getting snuggle time in with our boy. Here's the lady of the day with her just plain old grandkids. Funny fact: when we said how about a picture with the grandkids these guys all went to send their own children in for the picture forgetting they were the first grandkids!

It was a long trip with lots of miles put on the car, but so worth it! You only see somebody turn 100 once!
